This Privacy Policy explains how Flashwords (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Flashwords app (the “Service”).
What we collect
- Anonymous usage and performance data. Aggregate, non-identifiable events used to understand which features work and to fix problems.
- Anonymous crash reports. Stack traces and device/OS metadata captured when something breaks.
- Subscription state. When you subscribe, your purchase and renewal state are confirmed through the Apple App Store.
- Learning progress (optional account). If you choose to create an account, your word lists, review history, and progress are stored on our servers so they sync across devices.
Flashwords does not require an account. Without an account, your data stays on your device.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Adapt review sessions to the words you actually forget.
- Diagnose crashes and performance issues.
- Manage subscriptions and ad-free access.
Legal bases (EU / UK / EEA)
Where GDPR applies, we process data on the following bases:
- Contract — to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service stable and improve it with anonymous diagnostics.
- Consent — for push notifications and any optional analytics.
Third-party services
- Apple App Store (StoreKit 2) — Subscription management.
- Anonymous analytics and crash reporting — Aggregated diagnostics used to improve the app.
We do not sell your data. We do not share personal data with advertising networks.
Data storage, retention, and transfers
Server-stored data is held encrypted on managed infrastructure. Our processors may process data outside your country and rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for international transfers. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.

EU / UK / EEA residents (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw any consent you previously gave.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- Delete personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” — we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising, but you have this right regardless.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Türkiye residents (KVKK)
Flashwords operates in compliance with Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data. Turkish residents have the rights granted under KVKK Article 11, including access, rectification, deletion, and complaint to the Personal Data Protection Authority.
Children
Flashwords is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Subscriptions
When subscribed, the app removes ads and keeps the full feature set available. Subscription details, renewal, and cancellation are all handled through your Apple ID; we don’t see your payment information.
Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app where appropriate.
